BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Hens men's tennis team battled all the way to the end, but came up just short in Saturday afternoon's 5-2 loss at Lehigh.
The Mountain Hawks (1-4) swept the team doubles point, but Delaware (1-2) quickly picked up the first two singles matches.
Junior Colin Wong (Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia/SMK Kota Kemuning) earned the first win of the day by defeating Colin Nardella, 6-2, 6-1 in the third flight.
Sophomore Venkatesh Ramkumar (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) followed with a No. 4 6-3, 7-5 victory over Dylan Karchere-Sun.
Lehigh rallied to collect wins in the second, first and fifth flights to clinch their first team win of the year.
“We got off to a slow start in doubles, but bounced back quickly in singles and went up 2-1. I'm proud of our effort as this match came down to the wire.”
