Delaware Falters in Spring Season Opener at Navy, 6-1

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Blue Hens opened the 2017 spring season Sunday afternoon with a 6-1 loss to Navy at the Tose Family Tennis Center.
The Mids, who are perennially a tough opponent, kicked off the day by sweeping the team doubles point.
Navy eventually took the 6-0 lead before sophomore Venkatesh Ramkumar (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) notched his fourth win of the season. Ramkumar defeated Gabriel Pilones, 7-6 (5), 2-6, 10-7, in the third flight.

“Overall I'm pleased with our performance and effort. Navy came out strong in the doubles and outplayed us. In singles, I felt like we were competitive for the majority of the matches. We will take home some valuable lessons as we prepare for Howard on Wednesday.”
