Hens Bounce Back for 5-2 Victory at Howard

WASHINGTON, D.C. – After dropping the doubles point, Delaware rallied to defeat Howard, 5-2, at the WTEF East Capitol Campus courts.
Pablo MontanaHoward captured the team doubles point with wins in the first and third flights before Delaware bounced back to tally five of the six singles matches.
Sophomore co-captain Blaise Casselbury (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Country Day School) picked up the top-flight singles victory over Ismael Kaouache, 6-2, 6-4, before junior Colin Wong (Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia/SMK Kota Kemuning) defeated Laguna Foster, Jr., 6-4, 6-2, in the third slot.
Freshman Dominick Perez (Bethesda, Md./Gonzaga College) followed with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) No. 4 decision over Spencer Kelly.
Laurenz Lankes clinched the match for the Blue Hens in the second spot as the freshman from Cologne, Germany registered a 6-3, 7-5 victory against William Jones III.
Fellow freshman Luis Marcano (Kralendijk, Bonaire (Sagemont (Fla.)) wrapped the day by defeating Cole Gittens, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (8-6).
“We had our opportunity in doubles today, but we could not convert the point. The guys showed great resiliency and bounced back to win five out of the six singles points. I'm very proud of their effort and character and we continue to push forward as we compete against Lehigh this Saturday.”
