Marinaccio, Spadafino Selected 2017 Delaware Baseball Captains

Marinaccio (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) is one of the top pitchers on the 2017 Blue Hens squad. Last season he went 7-4, tying him with Brandon Walter for the team lead in victories. The righty was named Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week last season as well.
Spadafino (Dover, Del./Dover) is also one of the top returning pitchers on this years team. Projected to be the Saturday starter, Spadafino provided nice depth out of bullpen a season ago, serving in multiple roles. He picked up five wins and recorded a save.
“It gives me great pleasure to announce our 2017 captains Nick Spadafino and Ron Marinaccio," said Sherman. "They both continue the long tradition of UD captains that demonstrate great character, leadership and dedication. They both realize the tremendous responsibility placed on them to represent our fine university, our players, coaches and our state."
The Blue Hens open the 2017 season in Kissimmee, Fla. where they will participate in the Diamond 9 Sunshine State Games. The four-team tournament features Atlantic Coast Conference opponent Pittsburgh, Big Ten member Ohio State, and Kansas State of the Big 12.
