RICHMOND, Va. -- The University of Delaware men's lacrosse squad was honored yet again by the Colonial Athletic Association Tuesday as Blue Hen sophomore attackman Andrew Romagnoli was selected as the Co-Player of the Week for his efforts in two Delaware victories last week.
Romagnoli, a sophomore from Cazenovia, N.Y. (Christian Brothers Academy), was honored for the second time this season after also being named the CAA Player of the Week back on Feb. 14.
Romagnoli led Delaware to a pair of victories with eight goals and two assists for 10 points this week. He opened the week with four goals and an assist in the 15-9 win over VMI on Tuesday. He then led UD to its third straight victory and its fourth straight road win with a 13-10 triumph at Villanova. He posted a team-high four goals and also dished out an assist as part of a five-point day. He scored twice in the first half to give UD an early lead and helped keep Villanova at bay with a pair of fourth quarter goals.
He has now scored a hat trick in five of the six games this season and has four goals in four of the games. He leads Delaware with 19 goals and 26 points on the season.
The Blue Hens have also had two other CAA award winners this season as freshmen Charlie Kitchen and Matt DeLuca have each been named CAA Rookie of the Week in previous weeks.
Sharing Co-Player of Week honors with Romagnoli was Hofstra goalkeeper Jack Concannon. Hofstra's Ryan Tierney was named the CAA Rookie of the Week.
Delaware continues action today, March 7, when the Hens host Manhattan College (2-3) at Delaware Stadium at 3 p.m.
