Delaware Field Hockey Receives National Championship Rings at Annual Banquet

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware field hockey team celebrated its most successful season in program history this past weekend at the squad's annual awards banquet.
During the celebration, the Blue Hens received the prized possession of the National Championship rings that came in a specially engraved and illuminated presentation case.
Alumna Jodi Byrd Hollamon served as the guest speaker and shared with the Hens, “You play for each other. And that's why you're champions. And now, play like a champion, but train like an underdog.”
Team accolades were also handed out in addition to senior speeches and a season highlight video.
As voted on by team members, the following were award recipients:
· Most Valuable Player – Greta Nauck
· Offensive Player of the Year – Greta Nauck
· Defensive Player of the Year – Emmeline Oltmans
· Rookie of the Year – Sarah Horgan
· Most Improved Player – Lauren Crudele
· Team Sportsmanship/Spirit Award – MacKenzie Meyer
Delaware, which won the first NCAA Field Hockey Championship in program history in November, finished the year with a 19-game winning streak and an overall record of 23-2. The Hens ranked in the top four nationally in winning percentage, scoring average, goals per game, points per game, scoring margin and assists per game.
