Taylor Lister Selected For 2017 U.S. Women’s National Developmental Squad

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following a successful tryout recently, Blue Hens junior forward Taylor Lister (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) was named as a member of the USA Field Hockey Developmental Squad.
To account for the transitional phase from the U.S. U-21 Women's National Team to the senior USWNT, the squad's purpose is to nurture the talent of college students who no longer are permitted to be on the U-21 USWNT due to age restrictions but show great promise in hockey.
Rolf van de KerkhofVan de Kerkhof continued, “It is cool to see the passion and excitement Taylor displays when she talks about Team USA, her interaction with others on the squad and the coaching staff and what she is learning from this experience thus far as a player and person. I hope Taylor continues to have fun learning and sharing hockey as a Blue Hens and Team USA Olympic hopeful. She knows that her Delaware teammates and coaches are extremely proud of her and how she represents the University of Delaware and Blue Hens field hockey.”
The Developmental Squad will attend several training camps throughout the year between March and May, where they will train and scrimmage against the U.S. U-21 Women's National Team and college teams. In June, they will compete as a team at the Young Women's National Championship held at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster County, Pa.
“It has been such a great experience working with and being named to the Developmental Squad,” Lister remarked. “Playing with and against the best will only make me become better as an individual player and I'm excited to help better our team as a whole at Delaware. I know getting a different perspective will only help myself and my Blue Hens team in the long run.”
A Longstreth/NFHCA Regional First Team All-American, CAA All-First Team, NCAA All-Tournament Team and CAA All-Tournament performer this past season, Lister finished the year with 21 points on 11 assists and five goals. Lister and the Blue Hens picked up the program's first-ever National Championship while completing the year with a 19-game winning streak and an overall record of 23-2.
