PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Blue Hens concluded CAA action Sunday afternoon with a 6-1 loss at Drexel.
Luis Marcano (Kralendijk, Bonaire/Sagemont (Fla.)) posted the lone win of the day for Delaware as the freshman defeated Daniil Ginzburg, 6-4, 6-3 in No. 5 singles for his fourth straight win on the year.
The Hens (8-15, 0-3 CAA) forced three-set matches in the first, second and sixth flights, but were unable to claim the wins.
The Dragons (13-6, 2-0 CAA) opened the afternoon by sweeping the team doubles point and clinched the match with victories in the third, fourth and first spots.
“I thought we played well in doubles today, despite losing the point. All three courts played with consistency and demonstrated good chemistry. In singles, we had our chances on a few courts and we were a few points away from turning this match around. Congratulations to Luis for having a nice win over a really good opponent.”
