CHANDLER, Ariz. – Delaware held steady in this week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Coaches Poll as the Blue Hens took the No. 6 spot in back-to-back weeks.
The Hens gathered 853 points following a weekend in which Delaware went 2-0 with wins at Penn and Liberty. UD is 5-1 on the year and has won four straight.
Connecticut (5-0) moved up one spot to take the No. 1 ranking with 1,129 points and 28 first place votes while Penn State (5-0) itched up one place to come in at No. 2 with 1,083 points and 13 first place votes. Syracuse (7-0) rose two places to No. 3 as the Orange have yet to allow a goal this season. Duke (4-1) and Virginia (5-1) fill out the top five.
The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, September 19. The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches, and has no bearing on selection to the 2017 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship.
Delaware faces No. 2 Penn State this coming Sunday at 1 p.m. at The Nook in Manheim, Pa.
