CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Blue Hens have moved up one spot to No. 5 in this week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Coaches Poll.
Delaware (6-1) received 975 points and two first place votes following Sunday's shutout over then-No. 2 Penn State.
Connecticut (7-0), the Blue Hens opponent this coming Sunday, remained in the No. 1 spot with 1,165 points and 43 first place votes. Duke (6-1) jumped to No. 2 with 1,079 points while the Nittany Lions fell to No. 3 with 1,005 points. Virginia (7-1) also inched up a spot to No. 4 while the Hens rounded out the top five.
The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, September 26. The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches, and has no bearing on selection to the 2017 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship.
Delaware returns home this weekend to host No. 20 Albany (3-3) at 6 p.m. Friday and No. 1 Connecticut Sunday at noon. Admission at Fred P. Rullo Stadium is free and open to the public.
