RICHMOND, Va. – Emmeline Oltmans (Baarn, The Netherlands/Het Baarnsch Lyceum) collected her first-ever CAA Player of the Week honors Tuesday following a clutch performance over then-No. 2 Penn State.
The senior goalie led then-No. 6 Delaware (6-1) to a 2-0 victory over the previously undefeated Nittany Lions (7-1). Oltmans posted eight saves, including a crucial penalty stroke stop in the 52nd minute, to help the Hens to shutout a Top-4 opponent for just the second time in program history, with the last instance also coming versus Penn State (then-No. 3) in 1987.
Oltmans is the Blue Hens career leader for minutes played (4911:44) and wins (54) and is seventh all-time with 10 shutouts and ninth with 248 saves.
Delaware returns home this weekend to host No. 20 Albany (3-3) at 6 p.m. Friday and No. 1 Connecticut Sunday at noon. Admission at Fred P. Rullo Stadium is free and open to the public.
