GILBERT, Ariz. – Emmeline Oltmans (Baarn, The Netherlands/Het Baarnsch Lyceum) continues to receive recognition for her outstanding play this past weekend as the senior was named Wednesday as the NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week.
Oltmans was also named the CAA Player of the Week following a clutch performance over then-No. 2 and previously undefeated Penn State Sunday.
The goalie led then-No. 6 Delaware (6-1) to the 2-0 shutout victory while making eight saves, including a stop on a penalty stroke in the 52nd minute. Oltmans helped the Blue Hens shutout a top-four opponent for just the second time in program history and first in the last 30 years.
Oltmans is the Blue Hens career leader for minutes played (4911:44) and wins (54) and is seventh all-time with 10 shutouts and ninth with 248 saves.
Connecticut senior forward Charlotte Veitner collected NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week accolades.
Delaware returns home this weekend to host No. 20 Albany (3-3) at 6 p.m. Friday and No. 1 Connecticut Sunday at noon. Admission at Fred P. Rullo Stadium is free and open to the public.
