Blue Hens Drop to No. 8 in Latest NFHCA Coaches Poll

CHANDLER, Ariz. – With a tough weekend in their rearview mirror, the Hens fell to No. 8 in this week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Coaches Poll.
Delaware (6-3) suffered two overtime losses to then-No. 20 Albany and No. 1 Connecticut to receive 798 points.
The Huskies (9-0) remained in the top spot with 1,146 points and 44 first place votes while Duke (7-1) was second with 1,066 points. Virginia (9-1) moved to No. 3 with 1,010 points and a first place vote while Penn State (8-2) dropped to No. 4 with 937 points. North Carolina (9-2) jumped to No. 5 with 879 points and a first place vote.
The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, October 3. The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches, and has no bearing on selection to the 2017 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship.
The Blue Hens open conference action this Friday as Delaware travels to Drexel for a 7 p.m. contest. UD returns home Sunday to host non-conference foe Lafayette at 1 p.m. Admission at Fred P. Rullo Stadium is free and open to the public.
