Delaware Positioned at No. 6 in Latest NFHCA Coaches Poll

CHANDLER, Ariz. – With a 3-1 start to the year, the Blue Hens field hockey squad is ranked No. 6 in the latest Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Coaches Poll.
Delaware, which was slotted No. 3 in the preseason poll, earned a total of 730 points following wins over Indiana, Dartmouth and then-No. 8 Princeton and a loss to then-No. 9 Louisville to open the season.
Duke (3-0) rose one spot to take the No. 1 ranking with 23 first place votes and 932 points. Connecticut (3-0) jumped two spots to No. 2 while Penn State (4-0) moved four spots to No. 3. North Carolina (3-1) fell to fourth place while Syracuse (5-0) remained in the fifth spot.
Michigan (3-1), Boston College (4-0), Louisville (3-1) and Virginia (3-1) rounded out the top 10.
The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, September 12. The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches, and has no bearing on selection to the 2017 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship.
The Blue Hens return to the turf with a 3:30 p.m. contest at Penn Friday and follow with a 1 p.m. matchup at Liberty Sunday.
