RICHMOND, Va. – Anyone who watched Delaware's upset of #5 Elon on Saturday afternoon saw that Troy Reeder was a man on a mission.
Reeder finished with 15 tackles on the afternoon, including a career-high five tackles for a loss, one of which was a sack late in the fourth quarter to stifle an Elon drive. For his efforts, he was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time in his career.
"Troy was outstanding today and really was the leader of a great defensive effort from our team," head coach Danny Rocco said. "The best part about Troy is that he's consistently the same person every single day, he brings the same focus and energy to everything he does and he has a desire to get better and better, which makes him a special person and player."
He becomes one of only three Delaware players to win at least four CAA Weekly Awards during his career, joining only Andrew Pierce and Pat Devlin.
Reeder and his teammates helped the Blue Hens defeat their first top-five opponent since 2010 and first top-five opponent at home since 2003.
The Hockessin, Del. native currently leads the CAA with 64 tackles on the year, seven of which are for a loss. The 64 tackles rank him 10thin the country in that category.
