Tessa Verweijen Tabbed CAA Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Tessa Verweijen became the sixth Delaware field hockey player to receive weekly league honors as the midfielder was tabbed the CAA Rookie of the Week Tuesday.

Verweijen posted a season-best two goals against William & Mary on Sunday, helping the Hens to clinch its seventh straight bid into the CAA Tournament. She scored the first and last goals in UD's 4-2 win over the Tribe, including the game-tying goal in the 27^th minute.

Verweijen has started 14 of 15 games played during her freshman campaign and is tied for third on the team with 12 points.

The Blue Hens conclude regular season play this weekend by hosting Northeastern (Friday, 6 p.m.) and Hofstra (Sunday, 1 p.m.). In addition to serving as UDFH Family Weekend, the Hens will celebrate its academic advisors and support staff on Friday while honoring its senior class on Sunday.
