NEWARK, Del – The Delaware volleyball program punched back twice but couldn't take the final set as UD fell to UNCW, 3-2 (25-16, 21-25, 25-20, 15-25, 15-11) on Friday night inside Hanover Hall. With the loss, Delaware drops to 9-14 and 3-8 in the Colonial Athletic Association while UNCW improves to 12-8 and 5-5 in the league.

Junior Maria Bellinger had a match high 22 kills on 67 swings. Both teams each had 51 terminations as a team. Junior Brooke Robertson and junior Bailey Pearlman each had nine hammers, while junior Cailey Bracken had five. Sophomores Courtnie Roberts and Julia Hayes each had three.

Roberts dished out 35 assists tonight while junior Andie Hanus his double-digits for 10 for the third time this season.

Roberts and Bracken led the way with 19 digs each, helping UD post 101 as a team. Roberts now has 12 double-doubles this season. Hanus grabbed her third double-double after 17 digs, while sophomore Maddie Judge had 15. Freshman Samantha Davis earned her career-best with 12 scoops.

Delaware posted seven total blocks with Robertson pacing the Blue Hens with four. Bracken and Hayes had three while Bellinger, Pearlman, Roberts and Skryd each recorded one.

UD had five aces tonight, including three in the fourth set. Bracken and Roberts each found the floor twice while Pearlman had one.

Delaware will be back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. when they travel to Charleston.
