RICHMOND, Va. – Delaware swept the Colonial Athletic Association field hockey awards for the third time this season as senior Greta Nauck earned the title of Player of the Week and Lizzie Gaebel took home Rookie of the Week honors.
Nauck finished weekend play with nine points in wins over Northeastern and Hofstra. In Sunday's regular season finale against the Pride, the forward logged her fifth career hat trick and added two assists for a total of eight points. She also posted an assist in Friday's contest versus the Huskies. The Krefeld, Germany native is the NCAA's active career leader with 187 points and 78 goals, marks that are good for sixth and fifth, respectively, in CAA history.
Gaebel made her fourth start of the season in the cage against Northeastern and tied a season-high with seven saves, including three huge stops in the final five minutes as the Blue Hens clinched their third straight CAA regular season title. The Kennett Square, Pa. native added 28:21 minutes versus Hofstra and shared the shutout victory with senior Sydney Rhodes and classmate Becca Harbert.
No. 14 Delaware hosts this weekend's CAA Tournament at Fred P. Rullo Stadium. The top-seeded Blue Hens take on fourth-seeded James Madison on Friday at 3 p.m. before second-seeded William & Mary and third-seeded Northeastern face off at 6 p.m. Sunday's championship match is slated for 1 p.m.
