Blue Hens Outshine Dukes, 6-3, in CAA Match-Up

HARRISONBURG, Va. - No. 20 Delaware took down James Madison, 6-3, in the second Colonial Athletic Association matchup of the season. Six different Blue Hens scored goals in the win.
Senior goalkeeper Sydney Rhodes captured two saves from five shots on goal as the Hens improve to 6-6 on the year and 2-0 in league play.

The Dukes were first out of the gate, scoring at 1:17 of the first half with a goal by Elfi Rooij. Their other two goals came in the second half by Corey Mayer, and Ongeziwe Mali.

To begin Delaware's scoring frenzy senior Kiki Bink scored on a penalty corner assisted by Lisa Giezeman and Pia Freudenberger. To end the first half, freshman Grace Miller scored her first career goal off an assist from sophomore Femke Strien.

Sophomore Lotte de Koning scored off a penalty corner 13:27 into the second half with assists from Giezeman and freshman Laurien Vink. A few minutes later senior Greta Nauck tallied her sixth goal of the season. To finish for the Blue Hens Giezeman scored the sixth goal of the game off a rebound.

Caitlin Nelson record seven saves off of 13 shots on goal for the Dukes (3-7, 0-1 CAA).

The Blue Hens are back in action on Friday, hosting the University of Virginia at Fred P. Rullo Stadium at 5:00 pm.
