NEWARK, Del. – Hofstra's Oscar Ramsay scored the only goal of the match in the 14th minute and the Pride held on for a 1-0 shutout victory over the University of Delaware Saturday night at Grant Stadium.
Just 13:37 into the match Ramsay redirected a shot from 16 yards out by Hendrik Hebbeker to give Hofstra (6-3-3, 3-0-1 CAA) the early lead. The Pride then shut down the Blue Hens (3-8, 2-2 CAA) the rest of the way to record its eighth straight shutout.
Robert Campbell had two shots for Delaware while John Schroeder, Noa Benninga, Timo Hummrich and Fede Prieto added one apiece. However none of the Blue Hens' shots were on goal. Hofstra also finished with six shots on the night, while Delaware held a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.
UD goalkeeper Todd Morton made three saves for the Blue Hens, while Alex Ashton did not need to make any in the Pride net.
Head Coach Ian Hennessy
"Congrats to Hofstra, they're a hard team to break down. We had the lion's share of possession but didn't have the quality to break them down. I was happy to see Fede (Prieto) back after a long layoff and I think he made all the difference tonight. We have a really must-win game situation Wednesday against Drexel."
