NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware head coach Pablo Montana announced Tuesday the addition of Jesse Medvene-Collins to the men's tennis staff as an assistant coach.
Medvene-Collins joins the Blue Hens after spending the past six seasons as the associate head coach for the women's tennis team at William & Mary.
"I am truly excited to welcome Jesse to the Blue Hens family," remarked Montana. "Jesse has garnered tremendous respect nationally from the work he has done with William & Mary and their successes. With Jesse on board, the future will continue to be bright for the Delaware men's tennis program and I feel confident that our players will continue to grow and develop under his tutelage."
During his tenure in Williamsburg, the Tribe captured five Colonial Athletic Association championships (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018) and earned ITA Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors in both 2015 and 2017. Additionally, Medvene-Collins coached five CAA players of the Year, three CAA Rookies of the Year, 24 ITA Scholar-Athletes, 21 All-CAA singles players and nine All-CAA pairs in doubles at W&M.
Medvene-Collins possesses nearly 20 years of collegiate tennis coaching experience, including assistant stops at Dartmouth, Wake Forest, Redlands and Iowa prior to his time at W&M. He also served as the head coach at Mills College from 2009-10.
"I'm really excited to help Coach Montana continue to grow the program," stated Medvene-Collins. "I'm going to do my part to ensure the team keeps taking steps in the right direction. It was very clear to me through the interview process that Delaware Athletics is going in a very positive direction and it's great to be a part of that."
A native of Washington, D.C., Medvene-Collins graduated from the University of Redlands in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology before obtaining his Master of Arts degree in education in 2009 from Redlands.
