Reeder and Adderley Named Finalist for Buck Buchanan Award

NEWARK, Del. – Troy Reeder and Nasir Adderley were named finalists for the Buck Buchanan award, STATS announced on Monday. The Buchanan Award is presented to the National Defensive Player of the Year in FCS. The list was narrowed from 40 players to 25.
Adderley has 80 total tackles this season, the second highest on the team behind fellow Buchanan award finalist Reeder. Adderley has recorded 43 solo tackles and assisted on 37. Adderley leads the team in interceptions with four and has broken up a team-best seven passes, while scooping up one fumble. Adderley also contributed on kick returns, taking a kick 92 yards for a score against New Hampshire.
Adderley has started every game in his Blue Hens career and he's the first defensive player to accomplish that since Sidney Haugabrook in 2001-04.
Adderley recorded a season-high 13 tackles against Stony Brook and hit double-digits against Villanova, Towson and North Dakota State. He recorded two interceptions at Richmond earlier in the season and also had one against Lafayette and Stony Brook.
Reeder is Delaware's and the CAA's leading tackler with 115. Reeder's 56 solo tackles is the highest in the league. Reeder has forced a team-high two fumbles this season and has produced 12.5 tackles for loss. Reeder recorded a sack against Elon and New Hampshire and assisted on one against Cornell. He is the only player in all of FCS to have at least 115 tackles and more than 12 TFLs this fall.
Delaware's defense is fourth-best in the CAA in points per game at 21.6.
The Blue Hens will begin the FCS playoffs on Saturday at JMU. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
