Baker, Mohollen and Walter Named Captains

NEWARK, Del. – Senior Kyle Baker, senior Kevin Mohollen and senior Brandon Walter have been selected as captains for the 2018 season. All three were selected by their teammates.
"We are really excited about this year's captains," head coach Jim Sherman said. "They truly represent Delaware Baseball In all of our team's motto of honor, respect, excellence. They are some of the finest young men I have every coached and will carry the torch of being great captains."
Baker was first-team All-CAA last season and also made the CAA All-Tournament team. Baker ended the season with a .354 batting average, the best in the CAA. He racked up 75 hits with 11 doubles five triples and two home runs. Baker knocked in 39 RBI and had an OBP of .397. His 39 RBI was ranked seventh in the league. Baker swiped nine bases while walking 14 times last season.
Mohollen made the third-team All-CAA last season and took home one CAA Player of the Week honor. Mohollen hit .285 with 61 hits last season. He picked up 80 total bases after 14 doubles, one triple and one home run. Mohollen walked 34 times and had a team-best OBP of .402. Mohollen swiped 15 bags on 19 attempts. His 46 runs scored was sixth best in the CAA last season while his stolen base total was also sixth.
Walter sat out last season with an injury, but in 2017 was 4-5 with a 3.42 ERA. His ERA was second-best on the team after starting nine games and tossing 55.1 innings. Walter struck out 61 batters in 2017, the second-most on Delaware in 2017. Walter tossed 8.0 innings in UD's win over Penn State in 2017. Walter allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out an impressive 17 batters.
