Roberts Posts Double-Double as Delaware Falls to Hofstra, 3-2

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Delaware volleyball program dropped a five-set thriller to Hofstra, 3-2 (19-25, 25-22, 25-15, 21-25, 15-12) on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, UD falls to 9-17 and 3-11 in the Colonial Athletic Association while HU improved to 22-7 and 12-3 in the league.
Junior Maria Bellinger led the way with 18 kills on 52 swings for a .192 attacking clip. Junior Cailey Bracken had nine kills and that was matched by sophomore Julia Hayes. Hayes' nine kills was a career high. Senior Brooke Robertson posted seven hammers while sophomore Courtnie Roberts and junior Bailey Pearlman each had three.
Roberts led the team with 35 assists and 49 team kills with a .140 attacking clip. Junior Andie Hanus had four helpers and the team posted 45.
Hanus had a team-high 23 digs in the match while Bracken recorded 14. Bracken now has 18 matches with double-digit scoops. Freshman Samantha Davis had 11 digs, while Roberts posted her 13th double-double of the season after 10 digs. The team had 76 digs compared to 83 for Hofstra.
Delaware sent 13 balls back for blocks, and were led by Robertson who tied her season-best with seven. Bellinger and Hayes each had five, while Roberts tied her season-high with four. Pearlman had three stuffs while Bracken had two.
Robertson tied her season-best service ace total with four. Hanus and Bellinger each recorded one has UD had six aces as a team.
Delaware will return home on Monday, November 9 to take on Towson. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m.
