HEN SCRATCHINGS
FINISHING STRONG: Saturday's game at Binghamton will be the Blue Hens third and final game in a tough seven-day stretch. After battling until the very end against seventh-ranked Villanova and Mercer University, the Blue Hens will have a strong chance to finish the week with a win against an 0-6 Binghamton squad. In their opening five games, the Blue Hens have netted 18 goals in the fourth quarter compared to Binghamton's five.
IMPACT DEFENSE: Delaware's top defenseman Austin Haynes continues to make his presence known on the defensive end of the game. In Tuesday's game Haynes caused five turnovers, just one less than the entire Mercer squad combined. Haynes will likely show his dominance again on Saturday as Binghamton has only scored more than seven goals once this season. The Blue Hens offense will prove to be a tough test for the Binghamton defense considering the Hens have failed to score fewer than 11 goals only once.
PRESSURE OFFENSE: The Blue Hens are not afraid to attack the net. In their five games, the offense has rattled off less than 40 shots only once. Binghamton's defensive unit will likely feel the pressure from the Blue Hens offense. Delaware has put 110 of their 199 shots on net and average more than 12 goals per game. They also rule the faceoff 'X' thanks to junior faceoff specialist, Jake Hervada. Binghamton should not expect the Delaware offense to tire out either. Delaware rips more shots as the game goes on with a season total of 44 in the first quarter, 50 in the second, 49 in the third, and 56 in the fourth.
NOTHING COMES EASY: Delaware head coach Ben DeLuca has made it clear to his squad that they will need to battle every game. Binghamton's 0-6 record should not distract the Blue Hens from the fact that the Bearcats are capable of an upset.
