• THE WEEK THAT WAS: Delaware enters this weekend with a 3-1 record over the last four games. This past weekend, Delaware won its opening Colonial Athletic Association series against Towson, two games to one. Junior Kyle Hinton and freshman Billy Sullivan IV each threw well for Delaware. Hinton pitched 6.1 innings, allowing just two earned runs in Delaware's 6-3 victory. In the doubleheader nightcap, Sullivan IV threw six dominant innings (three hits), striking out 10 batters. Tuesday afternoon, Delaware rebounded from Sunday's 10-2 loss to Towson with an impressive 7-3 victory at La Salle. Senior Calvin Scott drove in four runs in the victory, while James Meeker pitched three shutout innings to earn his third victory of the season (tied for team lead).
• COLMAN IS THE MAN: Senior Colman Vila now owns the all-time appearance record for a Blue Hens pitcher. The left-hander broke Billy Harris' (2004-07) mark of 75 career appearances in Saturday's doubleheader sweep of Towson. Vila is second on the Blue Hens in ERA (0.71), earned runs allowed (1), appearances (10) and saves (2).
• FRESHMAN ACCLAIM: Freshman Billy Sullivan IV was named CAA Pitcher of the Week the conference announced Monday. The St. Mark's product set a career-high in both innings pitched (6) and strikeouts (10) last weekend. Sullivan lowed his ERA to 1.52 which ranks him in the top-50 nationally. The award was Sullivan's second CAA award this season, as he was named CAA Rookie of the Week back on Feb. 20th.
• BAKER'S DOZEN: Junior Kyle Baker drove in his 13th run in last Saturday's nightcap against Towson. Despite missing six games with an injury, Baker still leads the Blue Hens in average (.361), RBI (14) and slugging percentage (.541). The right fielder returned to action this past Saturday against Towson.
• 1-2 PUNCH: The combination of Hinton and Sullivan IV has produced great results this season for Delaware. The Blue Hens are a combined 9-2 in games started by either Sullivan or Hinton and have won seven straight games where either pitch. Both Hinton and Sullivan IV have both won a team-leading three games this season. The duo has pitched seven games this season where they have allowed one run or fewer, and have struck out at least eight batters six times.
• KKKKKKKKKKYLE: Hinton has struck out a team-leading 38 batters in his 35.2 innings pitched. The righty had struck out at least nine batters in three consecutive starts before this past weekend's outing against Towson where he struck out just two batters. The Delaware native is one strikeout away from tying his career-high (39) in strikeouts, set last season.
• BIG TEN, BIG SUCCESS: Delaware has won five consecutive games against Big Ten foes, and six of seven. This season, the Blue Hens swept rival Maryland winning in College Park 7-1, before taking the season-series 7-6. Last season, Delaware swept Penn State, outscoring PSU 19-1. Delaware has outscored B1G foes 33-8 over the five-game winning streak.
• SCOUTING THE FOES: Michigan enters the weekend 13-11 overall, having rebounded from a slow start. The Wolverines have won nine consecutive games and are 8-1 this season at the Wilpon Complex. The lone loss in Ann Arbor came to Lawrence Tech back on Mar. 14. Over its current nine-game winning streak, Michigan is batting .317 and have outscored opponents 74-35. Junior outfielder Jonathan Engelmann was named Big Ten Conference Co-Player of the week this past week, as he batted .429 with three homers and 13 RBI in Michigan's 6-0 week. As a team, Michigan has held opponents to a .238 batting average this season, and have received strong performances from Will Tribucher (2-2, 1.96 ERA) and Ben Dragani (1-0, 1.71 ERA). Big Blue has played 18 games so far in the month of March, and 11 games in 16 days.
