RICHMOND, Va. – School Recorder. ECAC Qualifier. CAA Track Athlete of the Week.
What's next for senior Liz McGroarty of the University of Delaware track & field team?
McGroarty continued to pile onto her already outstanding senior season by being named the CAA Track Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career.
“Liz is the epitome of what we look for in our student-athletes. She is currently going through clinic rotations for her nursing degree, but still has managed to increase her mileage and improve her workouts during the year. Her hard work and dedication is showing up in her performance and it's outstanding to see,” distance coach Ryan Waite said.
The Glen Mills, Pa. native started her weekend by racing to victory in the 1500m with a personal best time of 4:23.52, which is the third-best time in school history. It also places her 32ndin the East Region and top-50 nationally in the event.
She came back and ran the anchor leg in both the 4x400m relay, which placed second with a time of 3:53.64, and the 4x1500 meter relay, which placed fourth with a time of 19:04.17.
Overall, she was a part of 23 points en route to Delaware's team title at the Colonial Relays this past weekend in Williamsburg.
McGroarty and her teammates are back in action this weekend at the Towson Invitational.
