Kindle Named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

NEWARK, Del. – Striving for excellence is a phrase not just uttered on the field for the University of Delaware football program. It's a phrase that reaches all facets of being a Blue Hen student-athlete.
Delaware linebacker Jalen Kindle did exactly that during his career with the Blue Hens and on Wednesday was selected to the 2018 NFF Hampshire Honor Society by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame.
Kindle was one of nine CAA players honored.
The NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career. All of those recognized had to complete their final year of eligibility in 2017. An all-time high of 1,251 players from a record-tying 302 schools qualified for membership in the society's 12th year.
This past fall, Kindle was named a Campbell Trophy Award Semifinalist, recognizing the top scholar athletes in all of college football.
During his four years with the Blue Hens, Kindle was a key member of the squad as an outside linebacker, was a Dean's List student, a member of the Colonial Athletic Association Academic All-Conference team numerous times and a consistent team leader in community service. As a former team representative to the UD Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Kindle took an active leadership role on his team and has coordinated various community service events. Among the volunteer opportunities that he took advantage of were working at the Sunday Breakfast Mission, a homeless shelter in Wilmington, Del.; delivering meals to the elderly as part of the Meals on Wheels program; taking an active role with the B+ Foundation and UDance, an annual event run by UD students to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer; the Be the Match Bone Marrow Drive; working with youngsters at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Newark; reading to local children as part of Guest Reader Day at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School in Bear, Del.; and working with youngsters at the University of Delaware's annual Youth Football Camp during the summer.
Kindle has now transitioned to the sidelines for the Blue Hens, where he is working with the coaching staff as the Defensive Quality Control Assistant.
