RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Delaware women's tennis squad learned its fate Monday for the upcoming Colonial Athletic Association Championship, which will be held April 19-22 at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on the campus of Elon University and the Burlington Tennis Center.
The third-seeded Blue Hens will play at 1 p.m. Friday with quarterfinals action against No. 6 College of Charleston at the Burlington Tennis Center.
Should the Hens advance, UD will face either No. 2 James Madison or No. 7 UNCW at 2 p.m. Saturday. The winner moves on to Sunday's 2 p.m. championship match. Both the semifinals and finals contests will take place at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
Delaware finished regular season play with an overall record of 12-5 while going 3-1 in conference action to receive the highest-ever seeding in the CAA Tournament in program history. UD had previously never been seeded higher than No. 4 (2013).
The Hens and Cougars have only faced off one other time in women's tennis history with CofC picking up the 7-0 victory at home in April 2015.
Admission is free to all three days of the tournament, with the champion earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
