NEWARK, Del. – As the members of the University of Delaware men's lacrosse program broke their team huddle in the locker room last week, captain Will Hirschmann had one statement to leave with them, “Fight for this feeling.”

It was in reference to the Blue Hens first CAA win since 2016, a dramatic 11-10 win over Fairfield last Saturday.

This week brings another challenge as the Minutemen of UMass visit Delaware Stadium in a Friday Night Lights showdown after weather moved the contest from its previously scheduled date of Saturday afternoon.

CHANGING HISTORY:The Blue Hens will be looking to rewrite recent history as Delaware will be searching for its first 2-0 start in CAA play since the 2011 since, the last season that the Blue Hens reached the NCAA Tournament.
CHECK THE LIGHT BULBS:Tonight's game will test the lights on the scoreboard as it matches up the CAA's two top offenses. UMass enters the game averaging 12 goals per game, while Delaware is close behind with 10.89 per contest.
MANIAC MIDFIELD:A heavy dose of those Blue Hen goals come from the midfield unit of Hirschmann, Dean DiSimone and Bryce Reid, who have combined for 53 goals this year. That trio is the third-highest scoring starting midfield unit in the country.
THE SERIES:
- UMass leads the overall series, 12-7
- Delaware has won three of the past four meetings, but UMass won a 9-6 contest in Amherst last season
- UMass and Delaware have played one common opponent, with both teams defeating NJIT earlier this year.
