McGroarty, Bailey Headed to NCAA East Prelims

Senior Liz McGroarty (1500m) and junior Ashley Bailey (pole vault) are Florida bound as the duo earned spots at the NCAA East Preliminary Round, officially announced this week.
It marks the sixth time in the past seven seasons that multiple members of the University of Delaware track & field program will be competing in NCAA East Prelims.
McGroarty will be making her second straight appearance at the event after qualifying in the 1500m last spring. The Glen Mills, Pa. native locked up her spot last weekend with a school record run of 4:19.92, which ranked her 19thin the East.
Bailey is making her first appearance in the East prelims after clearing 13' 2 ¼” earlier this spring to lock up her spot. She comes in ranked in the top-40 in the East.
McGroarty will run the first round of the 1500m on Thursday, May 24 at 6 p.m. with the top 24 advancing to the finals on Saturday, May 26 at 6:45 p.m.
Bailey will get into the action on Friday, May 25 at 4:30 p.m.
The top 12 in each event move onto the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon. from June 6-9.
