WE'RE BAACKK
The Fightin' Blue Hens are back in the CAA Tournament for the first time since 2014 after a resounding 17-8 win over Drexel in the season finale to clinch a spot in the postseason. Just one member of the current roster (Jackson Finigan) has played in a CAA Tournament game.
CHANGING TIDE
Under first year head coach Ben DeLuca, Delaware has posted three CAA wins in 2018, the same total as the previous three seasons combined.
KITCHEN IS HEATING UP
Sophomore Charlie Kitchen has been red out in CAA play, scoring 17 of his 35 goals in the past five games. Kitchens' 17 goals in conference play and his 35 overall lead the CAA and rank 14th nationally in that category. Kitchen has five hat tricks on the year and four games with four goals or more.
MIGHTY MIDDLE
The trio of Will Hirschmann (25 g, 13 a), Dean DiSimone (23 g, 11 a) and Bryce Reid (20 g, 4 a) give Delaware one of the most powerful midfield units in the country with a combined 68 goals and 96 points. The 68 goals by the starting midfield unit rank in the top-10 nationally in that category.
THE BIG GUY
Sophomore Matt DeLuca has been outstanding in net all year long, posting double-digit saves in 10 of Delaware's 13 games this spring. He currently leads the CAA and ranks in the top-15 nationally with 11.54 saves per game.
NO FINGER NAILS LEFT
Watching the Blue Hens in 2018 hasn't been for the faint of heart with six games being decided by two goals or less. Delaware has entered the fourth quarter of every game this year facing no larger than a two-goal deficit.
MEETING THE TIGERS
- The two schools are meeting for the 60th time.
- Towson leads the series 41-18
- The Tigers have won six of the past seven meetings, including a 13-7 win in Towson two weeks ago.
