DeLuca, Team USA Takes Home Gold at FIL World Championships

NETANYA, Israel– Gold medals weigh about a pound and are rough 2.5 inches in diameter. However, they mean so much more than the size.
Head Coach Ben DeLuca of the University of Delaware now knows the feeling of wearing one around his neck after Team USA came away as World Champions at the 2018 FIL World Championships.
Team USA, whom DeLuca served as Assistant General Manager, went a perfect 7-0 at the tournament including a thrilling 9-8 victory over Team Canada, who had former Blue Hen Curtis Dickson in the lineup.
The experience was one that DeLuca will never forget.
"This entire team created an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. The last four years we have worked collectively under Coach Danowski's leadership to develop a unified vision and a cohesive team. The experience has had an incredible impact on me personally as an educator and a coach, and I'm certain it will in turn benefit our staff and the Blue Hen Lacrosse program as a whole. I am beyond thankful to have had this opportunity to represent our great country and the Delaware Lacrosse program at the highest level of our sport," he added.
