NEWARK, Del. – So much for a summer break.
Rising sophomore Chris Ludman of the University of Delaware baseball did anything but rest this summer, hurling his Post One American Legion to the World Series title last week. It was the first American Legion World Series title for any team in Delaware history.
For his outstanding efforts, Ludman was named American Legion National Player of the Year. He tossed two complete games at the World Series, including a two-hit shutout in the championship game.
As a freshman for the Blue Hens this past spring, Ludman tossed 43.1 innings, going 2-2 with a 3.12 ERA. He piled up 34 strikeouts and walked just 15, while making six starts for Delaware.
Ludman and fellow Delaware native and rising sophomore Billy Sullivan will be anchors to an extremely talented rotation in 2019.
