Kabat, Blue Hens Grind Out 1-0 Overtime Win at Elon

ELON, N.C. – The pillars of the University of Delaware women's soccer are the 4 Hs: humble, hard-working, high-energy and hungry.
All four of those were on display on Sunday when the Blue Hens gutted out a tough 1-0 overtime win over Elon to register the Blue Hens' first victory in conference play in 2018.
Junior Dani Kabat found the back of the net for the second time in as many games, tallying the game-winner less than four minutes into the first overtime. The Warren, N.J. native has scored three of Delaware's six goals this season.
Classmate Cali Loeffler registered her first collegiate shutout in goal for the Blue Hens, finishing with six saves on the afternoon.
The game started as a chess match with both teams battling for possession for much of the first half. Loeffler came up big, making two saves in the first 45 minutes to keep things scoreless.
Both teams ratcheted up the offensive pressure in the second half. Elon would pressure the Blue Hens in the first 15 minutes of the half, but Delaware's energy and work ethic would pay off with late pressure towards the Phoenix, forcing Elon's keeper to make five saves and force the game into overtime.
Overtime wouldn't last long as Kabat got loose along the left side and dribbled into the box, lifting a shot over the top of Elon's for the game winner.

"It's important to collect points in conference and today I'm glad we were able to get a positive result on the road. That being said, it definitely wasn't our best performance and we need to embrace that and learn from it, so we can be ready for a great Hofstra team. Credit to our girls for gutting it out, it's been a long road this year. We are definitely excited to keep moving forward." – head coach Mike Barroquiero
"It was great to get the win today, especially a conference game on the road. We have been working really hard this season and it's amazing that we finally came together and started playing with and for each other. It's really important to get early wins in conference and today was the start of something great." – junior Dani Kabat
