Ithiel Horton Earns Third CAA Rookie of the Week Honor

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware freshman guard Ithiel Horton earned his third CAA Rookie of the Week honor on Monday following his performances at UNCW and Charleston.
Horton (Vauxhall, N.J./Roselle Catholic), who also won the award on Dec. 3 and Dec. 10, averaged 20.5 points and 4.0 rebounds while going 11 of 21 from three-point range during the week.
Horton tied the UD freshman record by scoring 31 points in Thursday's 82-69 win at UNCW, and set a program mark by hitting nine three-pointers. He finished 10 of 15 from the floor, including 9 of 13 from behind the arc. He then added 10 points and five boards at Charleston on Saturday.
Horton, the leading freshman scorer in the conference, ranks third on the Blue Hens with a 13.8 scoring average and has connected on a team-high 47 three-pointers. He has reached double figures in all but four games this season, and ranks fifth in the CAA with a 42.3 three-point percentage.
Horton and the Blue Hens are home twice this week, hosting James Madison on Thursday and Towson on Saturday in a pair of 7 p.m. contests.
