Nieves Tied for Sixth Place Following First Day of Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Blue Hen sophomore Roberto Nieves carded an even par 70 during the opening round of the Bucknell Invitational on Sunday, ending the day in a tie for sixth place.
Nieves fired five birdies on the day, all during a six-hole stretch between 8 and 13, and added eight pars on the par 70, 6,224-yard Bucknell Golf Club course. Max Palmer of Robert Morris leads the field at two under par, four players sit at one under, and Nieves is one of six players at even par.
Hugo Kedzlie, playing as an individual, and RJ Wren are each tied for 27th place at the tournament as both players shot a three over par 73.
Michal Bargenda is tied for 50th place with a five over par 75, while Matt Pulgini and Jack Melville each carded a seven over par 77 to end the day in a tie for 62nd place.
Delaware recorded a 295 team score on Sunday, finishing the round in 10th place out of 13 squads. Bucknell leads the way with a 281 score, while Holy Cross is two shots back.
The final round of the tournament will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday.
