Men’s Golf Comes Up Just Short at Temple Invitational

stroke to finish runner-up at the Temple Invitational. The Fightin' Blue Hens carded a three-round score of 23-over par to finish second in the 12-team field. The tournament was held at The 1912 Club, a par-70, 6,951-yard course just outside Philadelphia.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Delaware opened up a lead with a 5-over par team score in the first round, and held a one-stroke advantage after Monday's 36 holes. In a tight battle with Temple and Lehigh for the entire final round, the Blue Hens came up one stroke short. As a squad, Delaware's six players made 41 birdies over the 54 holes.
Mazzalupi was UD's top finisher in his Blue Hen debut. He hit four of his eight birdies during Monday's first round to fire an even-par 70. The junior then turned in consecutive 1-over par 71 scorecards over the final two holes to finish just one stroke off the individual lead.
Itzoe shot a 1-over par 71 during Tuesday's final round to climb nine spots into the top 10. He finished with seven total birdies.
Matthew Homer tallied six birdies to finish in the top 10.
Jeffrey Homer had five birdies in Monday's opening round as he carded an even-par 70. He finished with a team-leading 10 birdies for the tournament.

UP NEXT
The Blue Hens will return to action in October when they make the trip to the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational, hosted by West Virgina University. The two-day, three-round tournament will held October 5-6.
