PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – An early goal from freshman Morgan Rigual proved to be the difference Sunday afternoon at a rainy Ellen Vagelos Field as No. 11 Delaware topped Penn, 1-0.
Rigual connected with sophomore Bo van Hunnik in the eighth minute and shot it in from the left side for her first career score.
The shutout was the fifth of the season for the Hens and redshirt senior Sydney Rhodes, who collected two saves against the Quakers.
POST-GAME QUOTES
Head Coach Rolf van de Kerkhof
"I'm proud of our players group for the way they rebounded and responded after our Friday win versus Towson. It was their team play and work ethic that allowed us to make it a 2-0 game weekend! A lot of good Delaware hockey (DEHO) was played today which will allow us to reflect and add on as we prepare for the remaining CAA regular season."
"We continue to take small steps forward in improving individually and as a team, which is exciting with winding down the regular season and looking at CAA tournament play. For the next two weeks we plan to look to further improve our scoring ability, to improve our overall depth-chart and get reunited with some players returning from being absent competing for the Blue Hens on game day."
