Femke Strien Named First Team All-American

GILBERT, Ariz. – Junior Femke Strien posted a career season for the University of Delaware and the NFHCA took note by naming her a 2019 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-American Tuesday.
Strien becomes just the fourth-ever NFHCA First Team All-American in Blue Hens history.
"Congratulations to Femke on this honor," stated Delaware head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof. "It is an amazing accomplishment to be selected as one of the best 16 players in the nation. We are all proud of her for the way she went about her business and the contributions she made to her own development throughout the season. It was a fun and exciting year for Femke and she deserves all the credit for putting in the extra work, focusing on her health and making it happen."
The 2019 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year, Strien finished the year fourth in Delaware single-season history with 45 points (17g, 11a). The forward ranked seventh nationally with 2.25 points per game and 10th with 0.85 goals per. A four-time CAA Player of the Week, Strien was the lone conference player to earn the honor more than once this season.
The University of Delaware now has 45 field hockey All-American honorees.
