Kennett Earns Blue Hens’ First All-Region Accolade Since 2015

NEWARK, Del. – Great leadership leads to great opportunities.
The 2019 version of the University of Delaware women's soccer program was a perfect example of that from a key leadership group that included senior midfielder Jessica Kennett.
Kennett, who had a career year statistically, was honored for her play this week when she earned the program's first All-Region accolade since 2015 when she was named Third Team All-East Region by the United Soccer Coaches.
"I'm so happy for Jess! This is a well-deserved honor. She's been an irreplaceable part of our midfield over her career and a great leader on and off the field," head coach Mike Barroqueiro said. "In a part of the field where most of the work doesn't end up on a stat sheet, I'm glad others were able to recognize just how impactful she has been in the building of our program."
The Armonk, N.Y. native was a stable in the middle for Delaware, serving as the defensive midfielder on a stout unit, while also logging a career-high two goals, and tied for the team lead with four assists. Her two penalty kick goals this year tied for the most-ever in a single-season by a Blue Hen.
As a team, the Blue Hens posted the third-most wins ever, the highest CAA finish ever and just the third CAA Semifinal appearance in program history.
