DeFreese Drops Career-High 31 Points in Delaware’s 77-63 Win Over Northeastern

NEWARK, Del. – Junior Samone DeFreese recorded a career night Friday evening as the Blue Hens defeated Northeastern, 77-63, during the team's annual Women's Health Awareness Game at the Bob Carpenter Center.
DeFreese finished the contest with 31 points on 14-of-24 shooting from the field to go along with nine rebounds in 35 minutes of action.
Delaware (11-12, 6-5 CAA) also saw a career-high 14 points from freshman Paris McBride, all of which came from the charity stripe. The point guard tallied eight of her points in the fourth quarter.
Graduate student Makeda Nicholas added 10 points and eight rebounds for UD.
The Hens, who lost to the Huskies by nearly the same score in Boston on January 20, held the lead for the majority of the game, but were not able to fully break away until a 30-point fourth quarter. Northeastern (15-8, 5-7 CAA) cut the lead to two with 7:56 remaining in the game, but UD rallied to score eight straight points and never look back.
