JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Delaware carded the lowest two team rounds in school history during a record-setting day as the Blue Hens ended Monday's action in first place at the UNF Collegiate.
The Blue Hens fired rounds of 283 and 286 on Monday, leading the 17-team field with a 569 score. Mercer sits in second place at 576, while tournament host North Florida is third with a 577 total. Delaware twice bested the previous team single round mark of 287 set twice this fall.
UD junior Ariane Klotz and sophomore Thitaree Sakulbunpanich each enjoyed a fantastic day on the course and are tied for first place in the individual standings at six under par, along with Hanna Alberto of Sam Houston State.
Klotz tied the program's individual single round record by carding a five under par 67 on the par 72, 5,926-yard Jacksonville Golf and Country Club course, and followed with a one under par 71 during her second round of the day. Klotz, who tied current UD assistant coach Andi Slane's 67 at the 2015 CAA Championship, fired seven birdies during her opening round and added three more on her second round.
Sakulbunpanich was equally as impressive, carding a four under par 68 before following with a 70 to also finish the day at six under par. Sakulbunpanich recorded the fourth 68 in UD history, and recorded five birdies during each of her rounds.
Valentina Mueller is tied for 30th place at the tournament with a four over par 78-70-148, while fellow senior Ashley Dingman carded a five over par 74-75-149 to finish the day tied for 39th place. Additionally Dingman shot the first hole in one in Blue Hen history on the third hole of her second round.
Sophia Dieter is tied for 52nd place with an eight over par 74-78-152 while her twin sister Mackenzie Dieter, playing as an individual, is tied for 69th place with an 11 over par 79-76-155.
