Delaware Concludes Season with Fifth Place Finish at CAA Championship

PINEHURST, N.C. – The University of Delaware men's golf team concluded its 2019 spring season this weekend by finishing in fifth place at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship.
The Blue Hens, who fired 295 and 298 rounds during the first two days of the tournament, carded a 299 on Sunday to finish fifth out of nine teams with an 892 total. UNCW captured the league title with an 867 score, while Charleston finished six shots back.
UD freshman Matt Pulgini recorded a five over par 76 during his final round on the par 71, 7,088-yard Pinehurst No. 8 course, tying for 13th place with an eight over par 73-72-76-221. Roberto Nieves, who carded a 75 on Sunday, also tied for 13th place at the championship with an eight over par 74-72-75-221.
RJ Wren enjoyed the lowest round of the day by a Blue Hen with a three over par 74, as he tied for 21st place with an 11 over par 75-75-74-224.
Jack Melville tied for 29th place at the tournament with a 16 over par 73-79-77-229, while Nick Vecellio tied for 37th place with a 21 over par 79-81-74-234.
Segundo Oliva of UNCW was the tournament medalist by finishing at two over par and then winning a four-man playoff with a birdie on No. 18 on the first playoff hole.
