Blue Hens Defeat Lafayette, 5-2

NEWARK, Del. – Despite battling multiple illnesses and injuries, the Blue Hens posted the 5-2 victory over Lafayette Sunday afternoon at the Delaware Field House Courts.
The Hens led off by collecting the team doubles point with wins in the first and third flights. James Wilkinson and Laurenz Lankes paired for the 6-1 victory in top flight play while Blaise Casselbury and Dominick Perez logged the 6-0 win in the third flight.
Wilkinson gave Delaware its first singles victory of the afternoon with his 6-2, 6-1 decision over William Barry in the first slot.
Perez followed with a 6-2, 6-0 decision against Paul Caruso in the sixth flight while Casselbury posted the clinching decision with his 6-0, 6-4 win versus Brandt Baldwin in No. 4 singles.
Lankes registered his second straight win, and first in the second flight this season, by topping John Yurconic, 6-4, 6-2 as the Hens improve to 14-10 on the year.
