Blue Hens Slotted #24 In Athlon Preseason Poll

NEWARK, Del. – With the opening kickoff less than 13 weeks away, anticipation around the 2019 University of Delaware football season continues to grow.
That excitement grew even more this week when the Blue Hens were picked #24 in the Athlon FCS Preseason Poll. Last year, Delaware earned its first national ranking since 2012 and concluded the year in the final poll for the first time since 2011.
Coming off the first FCS Playoff appearance in eight years, the Blue Hens will look to continue their upward trend with a fresh cast of student-athletes after losing 11 starters from the 2018 team that piled up seven wins.
Senior QB Pat Kehoe will be a part of a talented offensive attack with classmate and 2018 All-American Mario Farinella playing a key leadership role on the Blue Hens' offensive line. Defensively, senior Cam Kitchen returns as an All-CAA performer and will anchor a new look Delaware defense.
The Blue Hens open the 2019 season on Thursday, August 29 when they host in-state rival Delaware State at Delaware Stadium.
