NEWARK, Del. – The future is bright for the University of Delaware men's lacrosse team.
That became even more clear this week when a trio of Blue Hens were named Freshman All-Americans by College Crosse. Tye Kurtz (third team), Clay Miller (honorable mention) and Owen Grant (honorable mention) were all recognized.
It's the highest single-season total in program history for Delaware.
Kurtz churned out one of the best freshman campaigns in program history, setting a school record for points in a season by a freshman with 52. His 31 goals were the second most in a season by a Delaware freshman and he set single-game marks for goals (7) and points (10).
He became the first Blue Hen since 2011 and just the fourth overall to earn conference Rookie of the Year accolades.
Miller was outstanding in the midfield for Delaware, finishing sixth on the team in points (19) and goals (13). He scored in five straight games to end the year and was a critical force for the Blue Hens making their second straight CAA Tournament appearance.
Although he missed the first half of the season due to injury, Grant was a monster on the defensive side for the Blue Hens, racking up 17 caused turnovers in just eight games, while picking up 14 ground balls and logging an assist.
