Lathrop Tallies Career-High Four Goals as Men’s Lacrosse Defeats Hobart, 12-6, for First-Ever A-10 Victory

NEWARK, Del. – Keegan Lathrop tallied a career-high four goals as the University of Delaware men's lacrosse team earned its first-ever Atlantic 10 Conference victory, defeating the Hobart Statesmen, 12-6, on Saturday at Delaware Stadium. The Fightin' Blue Hens improve to 3-7, 1-2 A-10, while the Statesmen drop to 2-8, 0-3 A-10.

HENS HIGHLIGHTS
- Delaware tied a season high with 12 goals.
- UD notched a season-high 44 ground balls.
- Lathrop recorded his first-career hat trick, scoring four goals to go with one assist for a career-best five points.
- Finn Morgan, Tyler Owings, and Brendan Powers each posted a goal and an assist for two points.
- Franky Fix and Nathan Furgeson each scored a goal, the first-career tally for both players.
- John McCurry had a career-high two caused turnovers to go along with an assist.
- Scott Conte scooped a career-best 10 ground balls while winning 16-of-18 faceoffs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delaware opened the game with an early goal from Morgan, to go up 1-0 just before the two-minute mark. The Hens' extended their lead in the opening frame courtesy of back-to-back tallies from Bennett Parmer and Owings to make it 3-0 at the end of the first quarter.
- The Statesmen would add two-quick strikes early in the second quarter to cut the UD lead to one. Lathrop and the Hens' offense would continue to roll, adding onto their advantage with two-consecutive goals, bringing the score to 5-2. Kolar would find the back of the net to increase the Blue Hens' lead to four going into halftime.
- Lathrop recorded his first-career hat trick early in the third to extend the Delaware lead to five. The visitors would respond with two-consecutive goals, trimming the UD lead to 7-4 with 4:28 left in the third frame. Furgeson and Jack Kolbe added back-to-back goals just 40 seconds apart to put the Hens back up by five at the end of the third quarter.
- Powers and Lathrop gave the Hens their largest lead of the day with two goals in a row extending UD's lead to 11-4. Hobart added two quick goals before Fix scored his first-career goal with 14 seconds left in the game to seal the victory for the Hens.
GAME NOTES
- UD improved to 46-3 when allowing nine or fewer goals under Ben DeLuca.
- The Blue & Gold moved to 49-19 when scoring first under DeLuca.
- The Hens jumped to 51-13 when leading after three quarters under DeLuca.
