TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of Delaware women's tennis team was recognized recently by the ITA as an All-Academic Team while five Blue Hens were also honored for their hard work in the classroom during the 2018-19 season.
As a program, Delaware women's tennis has been acknowledged as an ITA All-Academic Team 12 times since the program's inception in 2002, including recognition in each of the past nine seasons.
Additionally, 24 Blue Hens have also been honored as ITA Scholar Athletes, with many earning multiple-year accolades for a total of 46 awards. Delaware has never had more than five recipients in a single year.
Sarah Hall, who graduated in June with an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science, led the pack as just the second-ever Blue Hen to earn the honors in each of her four seasons at UD. She joins former teammate Amanda Studnicki '18 with that designation.
Fellow graduate Draga Sabotic joined rising junior Sarah Whited and rising sophomores Emily Gotkiewicz and Viva Laas as first-time ITA Scholar-Athlete designees.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or higher on a 4.00 scale. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a student-athlete must be a varsity letter winner with a GPA of at least 3.50 for the current academic year.
