Blue Hens Fourth, Nieves Fifth After First Day of Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate

VERONA, N.Y. – The University of Delaware men's golf team sits in fourth place while sophomore Roberto Nieves is tied for fifth following Sunday's action at the season-opening Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate.
The Blue Hens fired team rounds of 304 and 291 on the par 72, 6,803-yard Kaluhyat Course at Turning Stone Casino Resort, ending the day in fourth place out of 14 squads. North Carolina leads the field with a 553 score, followed by tournament host Missouri at 570, Boston College at 585, and Delaware at 595.
Nieves carded a pair of two under par 70 rounds on Sunday, finishing the day tied for fifth place with a four under par 140. Ryan Burnett of North Carolina sits in first place at 10 under par, while his teammate Austin Greaser is one shot back.
Jack Melville (75-73) and Michal Bargenda (76-72) are each tied for 22nd place at the tournament at four over par 148, while Matt Pulgini is tied for 29th place with a six over par 80-70. RJ Wren sits in 39th place with an eight over par 76-76, while Hugo Kedzlie is tied for 43rd place with a 10 over par 77-77.
William Mirams (74-83) is tied for 55th place, Cole Alibozek (86-78) is tied for 78th place, and Ryan Pongrac (82-82) is tied for 78th place. Those three players along with Nieves are playing as individuals at the intercollegiate.
The final round of the tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Monday.
